Enthrall Secrets is the second audiobook and the second one I've listened to in Vanessa Fewings' Within Enthrall Series. But it's also part of a much bigger series that I haven't read. I believe this book could probably be read (or listened to) as a standalone, but reading the others would make it easier to understand the characters. I wish I had read more of Vanessa Fewings' books before this story.
Enthrall Secrets is the story of Mistress Scarlet Winters. The story starts in the present when Scarlet is with a new client. Things go wrong and Cameron Cole (if you've read the previous books you'll know who I'm talking about) gets involvedIt then flashes back to the past. We learn Scarlet's whole back story. Why she became a Mistress and who taught her.
One character I absolutely loved in this book was Danton. He was Scarlet's mentor and lover in the past. I really didn't like the way that ended and probably would have stopped listening to the book if I hadn't promised a review. I loved Scarlet and Danton's relationship. Her later relationship just didn't seem to have the same vibe. It seemed forced.
So in summary, I liked probably 3/4 of the book a lot and didn't really like some other parts at all. I give Enthrall Secrets THREE STARS!
Vanessa is also the author of The Stone Masters Vampire Series. Prior to publishing, Vanessa worked as a registered nurse and midwife. She holds a Masters Degree in Psychology. She has traveled extensively throughout the world and has lived in Germany, Hong Kong, and Cyprus.
Born and raised in England, Vanessa now proudly calls herself an American and resides in California with her husband.
