Title: Stay: A Dark Romance
Author: Chelsea Camaron
Release Date: September 7, 2015
goodreads

Fair Warning … This isn’t a sappy romance. It’s not sweet. It’s far from anything you would want to imagine. This is a story to leave you feeling dirty.

Nothing about us is normal.
Nothing about us is natural.

Can love ultimately be defined in such ways, truly? This is our story.

He is a hitman. The very one who took my family the night that changed us both forever. Something in my eyes stopped him from killing me. Something in my eyes called out for him to take me.

At ten he captured me, at fifteen he consumed me, and at eighteen he owned me.

Outsiders think he’s my father … that is so far from the truth.

Our twisted desires fuel the darkness that lies deep inside us both. My innocence never existed. He takes me as I am.

Probably my favorite genre to read is Dark Romance.  I loved the whole concept behind Stay and was very excited to read it.  I was so excited, that I read the book in one sitting Labor Day Weekend.

As the synopsis states, this is not your typical romance.  The patterns that take place in most romances (boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl have a problem and breakup, boy and girl get back together) do not happen in Stay.

The characters are also not typical.  The main female character, Fallyn, starts as a child of ten.  The main male character, Giano, is old enough to be her father, and does in fact take the place of a father figure in her life.  It's not creepy and their romance isn't illegal.  While Fallyn falls for Giano, he does wait until she's of age.

It's also a very dark book.  Giano is a hitman.  He kills Fallyn's parents and takes her.  She is expected to assume a new identity.  But her home life definitely wasn't perfect before.  Is the new identity better for her?

There are two different endings for Stay.   They're both sort of HEA, but not how one expects.  My only real complaint is that I didn't like either ending.  I loved the rest of the book, but I am a sucker for happy endings.  I didn't feel like Stay had a happy ending.

If you can get past the ending, however, and you're into dark books then definitely pick this one up.  I give Stay 4 stars!
