Title:  One Snowy Night
Series:  Heartbreaker Bay #2.5
Author:  Jill Shalvis
Release Date:  November 8, 2016

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.

Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.

They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

“You were on the phone,” Rory said.
                  “I was.”
She looked at him, clearly waiting for more, her pretty eyes not giving much away. She was so petite a good wind could blow her away, but that analogy implied she was fragile.
Rory was anything but fragile, and in fact her inner strength was even more attractive to him than her beauty.
“It was Willa,” he said, willing to give her that. Besides she was more curious than a cat and he wanted to appease that curiosity and fast, before she figured out the rest.
She looked at him, surprised. “What did she want?”
Shit. On top of curious as a cat, she was like Carl with a damn bone. He twisted around to buckle Carl back in and then put on his own seatbelt. He turned the engine over and cranked up the radio.
Rory turned it off. “She already made you drive me, so what now?”
                  “Nothing.”
Rory turned in her seat to fully face him. “Was she checking to see if we’d killed each other?”
He smiled at that, a thought that had been so close to his own, but she narrowed her eyes, not amused. “What did she want, Max?”
He went to put the truck in gear but she leaned into him to turn off the engine and grab his keys. Her breast brushed against his arm, giving him another zap of awareness.
“Come on,” she said. “This is Willa we’re talking about. I love her, but she’s incapable of not sticking her nose in where it doesn’t belong, especially when it comes to me. What did she want?”
Shit, it’d been two minutes and he was already regretting his “gentle” promise. He looked her right in the eyes. “Nothing.”
Her eyes went to little slits. “Liar.” She opened her door, revealing that the slush had turned to snow, as she swung his keys from her fingers. “Tell me or say goodbye to your keys.”
“That’ll strand you too,” he pointed out.
She raised her eyebrows and he got the message. She didn’t care.
“Fine,” he said. “She told me to be nice to you. Actually, she said gentle.” While she gaped at that, he snagged the keys from her lax fingers, feeling like an asshole when he leaned into her, reaching past her to slam her door shut.
She didn’t shrink back, which meant that their bodies once again bumped up against each other, and it was like they knew what his brain couldn’t seem to comprehend—he wanted her. He was a little thrown by that, and the now familiar zing of electricity, only slightly mollified to realize by the way her breath hitched that she felt it too.
“If you even try to be gentle,” she said, “I’ll get out and walk.”

As I've said before I always like reading Jill Shalvis' books when I'm looking for something light with tons of romance.  One Snowy Night is the story of Rory and Max.  If you've read the other books in the series (see below) you'll definitely remember Rory.  Years earlier Rory and Max had lived in the same town and gone to school together.  Now they are both living in San Francisco and running with the same crowd.  But they have a past.  Rory had always had a crush on Max and he'd always been sweet to her.  Then Rory was bullied.  When she turned the bully in she ended up hurting Max.  She never knew the extent of the damage until this book.  They are trapped together for hours in a car and then a motel and all comes out.

One Snowy Night is a novella so it's a short, quick read, but Jill Shalvis doesn't let us miss anything.  The characters are well developed and the plot is not rushed.   It's just a shorter story line than some of the other books.

Max turned out to be a really sweet guy.  He's understanding and he's strong.  And he cares.  He's a genuine nice guy.  Rory is young, but she's had to grow up a lot on her own.  She's had to be strong and she is.  She knows how to take care of herself and she doesn't trust easily.  Together they're a cute couple.

One Snowy Night was a fun book to read and would be even more fun reading while leading up to the Christmas season.  And since it costs less than a dollar it's worth every penny.  I give One Snowy Night FOUR STARS!

Title: Bound to Submit
Series:  Blasphemy #1
Author: Laura Kaye
Release Date: October 11, 2016

From the ruins of an abandoned church comes Baltimore’s hottest and most exclusive BDSM club. Twelve Masters. Infinite fantasies. Welcome to Blasphemy…

He thinks he caused her pain, but she knows he’s the only one who can heal her…

Kenna Sloane lost her career and her arm in the Marines, and now she feels like she’s losing herself. Submission is the only thing that ever freed her from pain and made her feel secure, and Kenna needs to serve again. Bad. The only problem is the Dom she wants once refused her submission and broke her heart, but, scarred on the inside and out, she’s not looking for love this time. She’s not even sure she’s capable.

Griffin Hudson is haunted by the mistakes that cost him the only woman he ever loved. Now she’s back at his BDSM club, Blasphemy, and more beautiful than ever, and she’s asking for his help with the pain he knows he caused. Even though he’s scared to hurt her again, he can’t refuse her, because he’d give anything to earn a second chance. And this time, he’ll hold on forever.

bound-to-submit-tour-teaser

Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share an excerpt from my new release Bound to Submit, the first official book in my brand new and super hot Blasphemy series! This is a steamy second-chance romance with a tall, dark, and tortured Dom and a kick-ass veteran amputee heroine, and I just loved writing these characters. I hope you’ll grab your copy of Bound to Submit, and the prequel, Hard to Serve—now available at all retailers—too!!
Now, enjoy this little taste Bound to Submit!

“Use your safewords if you need them, Kenna.”
Griffin hesitated only one more second.
And then he was on her. His mouth on hers. His tongue sinking deep. His hands in her soft blond waves. The moan she unleashed shot straight to his cock and made him want to wring every moan he’d missed these five long years out of her beautiful, curvy body.
“Put your arms around my neck,” he said. When she did, he cupped her ass in his hands and pushed off the couch. “Hang on, little one.”
He made for the adjacent door to the play room, but, good as it was, that one kiss hadn’t been nearly enough. Not when he was absofuckinglutely starving.
Pinning her to the wall, he dove back in again. Kissing, claiming, devouring. He ground himself against her pussy, the strangled cry she released around his tongue making his balls heavy and full. “I’m not sure you realize what you’re getting into with me, Kenna. Because I’ve missed the hell out of making you come.”
“Oh, God,” she rasped.
“God can’t save you. Not from me. Not tonight.”
He swung open the door, the motion-activated lights coming on as they moved into the play room. Others occasionally used this space, but he used it most. He’d designed and installed the furniture, suspension hooks and shackles, and pulley systems in the room for all different kinds of bondage play, and he’d outfitted the storage cabinets with every possible implement he’d need, too.
And he had just the thing in mind, for tonight.
“Feet down,” he said.
The way she slid down him nearly drove him insane, and then he stepped back and considered her body suit. It was so fucking sexy that he hated to ruin it, but PVC was a bitch to get on and off.
“I fucking love and hate that body suit right now,” he said, planting a stern expression on his face.
Amusement flashed across her eyes. “Sorry, Sir,” she said, not sounding sorry at all.
A thought came to mind and he retrieved a roll of red Kinesio tape from a cabinet. Tearing a length off he said, “I’m going to allow you the suit. This time. But I need you to tell me where the prosthesis ends and your arm begins. Can you do that for me?”
“Yes,” she said, lifting her arm as he moved in. “The stump extends about two inches below my elbow.”
“Here?” He held the tape over the black of her suit. When she nodded, he gently applied the red marking around her forearm. “Once we start, you have carte blanche—for tonight—to speak. I want you vocal. I want you telling me how I’m making you feel.” He nailed her with a stare. “Don’t let me hurt you. Don’t even let me get close.”
“I won’t, Master Griffin. I can handle this.”
“I doubt don’t it, Kenna, but I will cut the scene if I have even an inkling that I’m causing unintentional pain that you’re not owning up to.” He arched a brow. “Are we clear?” She gave a fast nod. “Good. Then spread your feet and put your hands at your side. Now.”
Her ready compliance fucking slayed him. After all this time, it really did.
“Mmm. Very good. Now, don’t move a muscle unless I tell you to. Because the scene begins right now.”

O.M.G!  I have read every single one of Laura Kaye's books and I keep coming back for more.  This is one of the hottest!  I've also read lots of BDSM books.  This was better than almost every one I've read.  I honestly have only good things to say about Bound to Submit.

Bound to Submit is Kenna and Griffin's story.   Years ago Griffin and Kenna had been seeing each other casually at Blasphemy as Dom and sub.  Then Kenna wanted more.  She wanted an actual relationship, but Griffin said no.  So Kenna decided to move on with her life.  She joined the Marines and served her county.  As soon as she left Griffin realized his mistake.  He did want Kenna, but by then it was too late.  Then Kenna loses her arm.  She's scarred and still hurting.  She needs something to ground her and decides to return to BDSM.

Kenna is probably my favorite female heroine ever (not just in Laura's books).  She is so strong, despite everything she's gone through and is going through.  She knows what she needs and she takes it.  Kenna may be submissive, but she is not helpless.  Submitting makes her stronger.

Griffin is shocked by Kenna's injury, but only because he wants to help.  I have so much respect for his reaction.  He isn't repulsed or put off.  He loves Kenna and he wants to help her through submission and bondage.

Everything about Kenna and Griffin's relationship was perfect.  Everything about this series is perfect.  If I lived near Blasphemy I would join.  I can't wait to read the rest.  I give BOUND TO SUBMIT FIVE STARS!!!!!
