I watch.
I study.
I prowl.
I hunt.

I always go in with a plan. A set of rules for myself. I don’t take unnecessary risks. That’s how I’ve been able to evade capture all these years.

But there’s something about this girl that is different than the others. When I finally meet her, the rules become a blur. And I break the most important one of all—I take her with me.

——-

It’s just my imagination—that feeling of being watched. That those icy eyes— a vivid turquoise with a distinct golden fleck—aren’t watching me.

It’s just stress. I am the person everyone relies on. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been feeling so content with my life lately. Why I dream those eyes belong to someone who can tear me away from all of my responsibilities.

But these are just shameful fantasies, never meant to breach reality.

Then one night, the dream comes true, only it’s a horrific nightmare.

Now, I only have one task: survival.

Since I was a young I've always loved what I refer to as "kidnapping stories."  I know that's probably messed up, but that's me.  So when I read the blurb to Take Me with You I was very excited to read it.  It's right up my alley.  Dark, Kidnapping, and Romance.

Vesper is in her early 20s.  She's in her last year of nursing school.  She's dating a great guy and seems to have it all, but she's not happy.  She loves her boyfriend, but he doesn't excite her.  Her mother is neglectful and Vesper is left to raise her disabled younger brother.  On the night she gets engaged a man breaks into her house and rapes her.  When her brother walks in, Vesper begs the man to take her away with him so that he doesn't hurt anyone.  Her life is then in his hands.

Sam is a very complicated character.  He doesn't speak much, due to a speech impediment.  While I wouldn't call his childhood abusive, it was definitely hard.  His mother was crazy and his father was tough on him.  Then he was in a horrific accident as a child that left him scarred.  At the beginning of the book I couldn't feel any sympathy or understand any of what Sam did, but by the end I felt sorry for him and could feel his love for Vesper.

The relationship between Vesper and Sam is healing to both.  It's abusive and harsh, but it's what both need.  They actually fall in love and we're left to hope that it works out for them.

While I liked most of the story I did have a few consistency issues and things that just weren't realistic (I can't go into details without spoilers), but they didn't take away from the main plot.  As I said I've always loved this genre and Nina G. Jones did a good job with it.

I give Take Me with You FOUR STARS!

GRS Cover
Book Title: Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel
Author: Nina G. Jones
Genre: Erotic Romance (Humor)
Release Date: June 15, 2014

He was a pig, a jerk, selfish, callous, crude, tactless, prone to outbursts and gorgeous. The kind of gorgeous where you didn’t even attempt to hide the fact that you were staring. I knew the type: His entire life he has coasted on his good looks, artificial charm, and sex appeal. Everyone wanted to be on him or be him. I had been hurt by jerks like him before. He was like those guys but far worse. I was the unfortunate sucker to be offered a gig I desperately needed as his live-in chef for a Summer in the Hamptons. But I wasn’t like the other girls, the models and socialites who came through the revolving door of his bedroom. I would bite the bullet, take the gig, deal with his sexist comments, his expectation that I would fawn over him, and have no problem letting the door hit my ass on the way out when I was done. But then something unexpected happened that changed everything and I realized that there maybe more to him than the labels I had affixed to his character. Maybe. But if he really wanted me, it wasn’t going to be easy, not like everything else in his life. He was going to have to work, I was going to make him miserable. He was going to hate wanting me just as much as I hated myself for wanting him back. Heath Hillabrand: International Supermodel. Womanizer. Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel. WE
