If you look through my blog you can probably figure out that I love Laura Kaye's writing. I love her style, her characters, and all of her books. I've read all of the other Hard Ink Novels, but this one is my absolute favorite and this hero is, in my opinion, the sexiest yet.
Derek DiMarzio (Marz) has appeared in the other Hard Ink books, but here he finally gets his own novel. Marz is a true hero. Like the other Hard Ink men he was special forces but he went beyond the others. He literally saved Beckett's life at a great cost to his own. Saving Beckett cost Marz his leg. But nothing stops him. Marz moved on. Nothing holds him back. Although some things are more difficult since his amputation he never complains and is always there to help the others. He's the one to put smiles on the faces of others. He is amazing!
Emilie is recently divorced after having been cheated on by her husband. She's insecure and doesn't trust easily, but she's drawn to Marz. She, like me, finds him to be incredibly sexy, good looking, and amazing. Hearing about his amputation doesn't faze her in the least. She agrees that he is a hero and a wonderful person. Even after getting hurt inadvertently by Marz she still can't resist him. He's there for her when she needs someone most. He puts her first and she falls for him.
I've read several other books about amputees and I always think of them as heroes and love them, but Marz is the best. He makes you look beyond and see what a truly wonderful, honorable person he is. If you're going to read any of the Hard Ink books this is the one!
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars (and would give more if I could)!
