From the moment I started reading "The Pawn" I
couldn't put it down. I loved everything
from the prologue until the end. The
only thing I don't love about it is having to wait for the next book, but
luckily it will be released in January, so it's not too long. I guess if it was released right away I'd be
incapacitated for a while and incapable of doing anything but reading. So maybe spreading the books out is a good
thing.
"The Pawn" reminded me more of some of Skye
Warren's older books. While I've read
and loved the newer books I fell in love with Skye's first books. "The Pawn" is part dark and part
thriller. It reminded me a lot of
Aleatha Romig's books (another of my favorite authors). It is the story of Gabriel and Avery. Avery grew up in luxury, but has now lost
everything. Her father is in need of
constant medical attention and Avery can't pay for it. The only thing left of value that she
posseses is her virginity. Gabriel is
the man who took everything away from Avery.
He suggests that she auction off her virginity and sell herself for 1
month to the highest bidder. He's
cunning and calculating, but then we see him vulnerable and caring. I'm not yet sure if Gabriel is the good guy
or the bad guy. Will he be the Knight in
the next book in the Endgame series or is he truly evil? I can't wait to find out and read more.
"The Pawn" is definitely one of my favorite books
of 2016 and since it's almost the end of the year I've read a lot of
books. I give "The Pawn" FIVE STARS!
