I read Tough Love, the prequel for Hold you Against Me about a year ago. I fell in love with Carla and Giovanni. Their story was tragic but unfinished. I wanted more. Hold You Against Me is so much more. Giovanni and Carla were kids in Tough Love. Now they're grown up. Giovanni has not grown up easily. Carla has grown up hiding.
Where Giovanni was once just a somewhat innocent boy, he's now a hardened Capo of a Mafia family. He is in charge of everything in his life and he takes what he wants, including Carla. Carla was once the Mafia princess, but she escaped. She had finally been able to lead her life the way she wanted. She had friends and a real life. Now Giovanni has her back. But, even knowing Giovanni has changed Carla can't resist him. She still sees some of the boy she loves and she falls for him again.
Even if you haven't read any of the Stripped books this book can be read as a standalone. I know many times we're told books can be read as a standalone, but this one is definitely it's own story. It would be good to read Tough Love first, but not necessary.
I will also say that of all the Stripped books (I've read them all) this is my favorite. This is a true love story with characters I'll remember. I've liked the other books, but I love this one. I give HOLD YOU AGAINST ME FIVE STARS!
