Everywhere and Every Way by Jennifer Probst - #BOOKREVIEW

Title:  Everywhere and Every Way
Series: Billionaire Builders #1
Author: Jennifer Probst
Release Date: May 31, 2016

Hot on the heels of her beloved Marriage to a Billionaire novels,New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst nails it with the first in an all-new sexy romance series featuring red-hot contractor siblings who give the Property Brothers a run for their money!

Ever the responsible eldest brother, Caleb Pierce started working for his father’s luxury contracting business at a young age, dreaming of one day sitting in the boss’s chair. But his father’s will throws a wrench in his plans by stipulating that Caleb share control of the family business with his two estranged brothers.

Things only get more complicated when demanding high-end home designer Morgan hires Caleb to build her a customized dream house that matches her specifications to a T—or she’ll use her powerful connections to poison the Pierce brothers’ reputation. Not one to ignore a challenge, Caleb vows to get the job done—if only he can stop getting distracted by his new client’s perfect…amenities.

But there’s more to icy Morgan than meets the eye. And Caleb’s not the only one who knows how to use a stud-finder. In fact, Morgan is pretty sure she’s found hers—and he looks quite enticing in a hard hat. As sparks fly between Morgan and Caleb despite his best intentions not to mix business and pleasure, will she finally warm up and help him lay the foundation for everlasting love?

For years I've been hearing about Jennifer Probst and her books. I've wanted to read them, but never seem to have the time. After reading Everywhere and Every Way I intend to make the time. This is the first book in a new series, Billionaire Builders, and if this is anything like the rest of Jennifer Probst series I want to scoop them all up and binge read this summer. Everywhere and Every Way tells the story of Cal and Morgan. Cal (Caleb Pierce) is the oldest of the three Pierce brothers. When their father unexpectedly passes away Cal and his brothers are forced together (for the first time in years) and have to jointly run the company Pierce Brothers Construction. Due to terms in the father's will they have to jointly run the company and make a profit, basically starting from scratch. Seeing as the other two brothers had left town years ago working together is a challenge.

Then Morgan comes on the scene asking (or rather, insisting) that the company build a house for her clients. Morgan is a designer, but she's more than that. She gets involved with a project from beginning to end. She's confident and expects perfection from both herself and others.

From the beginning you can see that Morgan and Cal are meant for each other. They are so much alike that they almost hate each other. But the heat that they generate can melt anyone. When they finally do come together it's an inferno. Of course Morgan has her issues and there are problems, but in the end love conquers.

I look forward to reading Tristan and Dalton's books and continuing this series. There are definitely some mysteries that I want to know about. I give Everywhere and Every Way FOUR AND A HALF STARS!

DESIRE AFTER DARK by MARIE FORCE - #BOOKREVIEW

Title:  Desire After Dark
Series: Gansett Island #13
Author: Marie Force
Release Date: May 23, 2016

Tobias “Slim” Jackson has the perfect life as a pilot on Gansett Island in the summer and in Florida in the winter. He’s happiest when he’s in the air, or at least that was the case before last summer when he met Erin Barton, Gansett Island’s newest lighthouse keeper. Now he can’t seem to find his usual enthusiasm for flying, winter in the sunny South or anything that doesn’t include her.

Erin has been stuck on pause since she lost her twin brother. She’ll tell you herself that her life has been a hot mess since Toby died. After dropping out of law school, she’s flitted from one pointless job to another, existing rather than truly living. Then she comes to Gansett Island to take over as the new lighthouse keeper and meets Slim, who happens to share her beloved brother’s first name. That small coincidence is enough to convince Erin that she needs to spend more time with the dashing pilot—except for the fact that he’s spending the winter more than a thousand miles from her.

Now Slim’s come home to Gansett for the holidays and to hopefully pick up where he left off with Erin. He’s got twelve days before he’s due back in Florida to finish out the remainder of his winter obligations. A lot can happen in twelve days, but will it be enough to convince Erin that it’s time to start truly living again? Read Slim and Erin’s story and catch up with the rest of the Gansett Island cast in Desire After Dark!

This is the first book I've read in the Gansett Island series. I've heard a lot about this series and wanted to read it, but I'm always reluctant to start in the middle (or toward the end) of a series. I like to start at the beginning. I was told that this book could be read as a standalone and I wouldn't miss anything so I read it. While I agree that the story of Slim and Erin could be understood without the background on all the other characters I will say that there was quite a bit of story revolving around secondary characters and it definitely would have made more sense if I had read the previous books, or at least some of them. The story came through, but every time other characters secondary stories were mentioned I felt like I didn't get what was going on. So I would say that this book can be read as a standalone, but it would be better to have read the other books first.

Now as for Slim and Erin (if I take away all of the background stories) I really liked their story. Desire After Dark was a pretty quick read. Their story flowed nicely and I'll definitely be picking up more of Marie Force's books. Slim and Erin are both in their late thirties. They met (probably in another book) when Slim came to Erin's rescue after a flat tire. He is a sexy, confident pilot. Erin is also sexy, but a little less confident. She had lost her twin 15 years ago in the 9/11 attacks. She never got over it and hasn't managed to have a serious relationship since. She also has a fear of flying ever since the attacks. With Slim being a pilot and Erin afraid to fly you can already see conflict. But Slim is extremely understanding and great with her fears. When forced to confront her fears he coaxes her through and is wonderful. It's as though the two of them had been waiting for each other. They are perfect for each other.

Overall I really liked Slim and Erin's story. I just wish I had read some of the other books. I intend to rectify that situation soon (and read all). I give Desire After Dark FOUR STARS!

It took me years to find the courage to speak to Luka. He seemed exactly like me. Intelligent. Focused. Serious.

But he’s not the man I imagined.

His reality is cruel and dark. He traps me in his web, his power twisting tighter the more I struggle, until it’s hopeless. I can’t break free.

As he drags me unwillingly into his filthy world, I can’t ignore the terrifying idea circling my mind. What if I belong here with him?

*WARNING. This book is meant for mature audiences and is a very dark erotic romance.

“So, Addison, we’re both stuck here for other people.” Luka took a step toward me, and even though there was still quite a bit of space left between us, his one small step felt enormous. Like he was now twice the size he’d been a second ago.

My chest was beginning to feel warm, no doubt from the tequila. “How is it you remember my name?”

“Probably for the same reason you remember mine.”

That was incredibly doubtful, but I kept my face plain. “Calculus was that memorable for you?”

“Yeah, it was. You were there every class, staring at me.”

I inhaled sharply, mortified, and tore my gaze away. “I did not.”

“Look at me.” His firm tone made it so there was no other option but to obey. When I did, his black eyes were focused and intense. “You stared when you didn’t think I could tell, but you weren’t very good at hiding it.” I opened my mouth to deny further, but he cut me off. “I was better than you. I made sure you never noticed I was looking.”

My brain disconnected and thought ceased. “Why?”

Luka’s hands rested casually on his hips. “Because a girl like you . . .” He scrubbed a hand over his mouth. He seemed to search for the right word, but not find it, and every drawn-out second that passed made it worse. Because a girl like you . . . Isn’t good enough. Rich enough. Smart enough. A girl like you isn’t experienced enough.

“You shouldn’t be interested in a guy like me.”

“What?” I was intelligent and well spoken, and yet I couldn’t choke out more than one word at a time.

“I’m not a nice guy.”

I swallowed hard. “Well . . .” How was I supposed to respond to that? “I’m sure that’s not true.”
Luka remained like a statue. He didn’t argue or defend himself, and tension wound around us like ruthless vines.

My question was breathy. “Why did you stare at me if you weren’t interested?”

“Did I say I wasn’t interested?” He took another step, growing larger still, reaching a point where I couldn’t see anything else. Just him. “Nobody looked at me the way you did, and I liked it. It’s exactly how you’re looking at me now.”

All the air vanished from the room.

“And how’s that?” It was dizzying when he took the final step and brought us chest to chest, his mouth inches from mine. Was any of this effect from the tequila, or was it all him? His gaze traced over each inch of my face, and I could feel it etching into my skin.

“Like you want me to do bad things to you.”

Oh my God.

As he’d done, I stood motionless, neither confirming nor denying. I held my breath, waiting for him to make his move. I expected him to kiss me. Or maybe laugh in my face, although Luka didn’t seem like the type to laugh easily. He was deadly serious.

“Do you?” His question was soft and indifferent, even as it carried the weight of an enormous challenge.

Did I want him to do bad things to me? “I don’t know,” I blurted out. “Maybe.”

Luka looked just as I felt—surprised by my admission. What had I just sort of agreed to? A tremble began in the backs of my knees and moved upward when his head tipped down. His mouth lowered until his warm lips sealed over mine.

Everything was madness. My actions, the situation, and most importantly, his kiss. I spun out of control under his mouth, surrendering to it completely, even as the kiss was tame. Luka pressed his lips to mine tentatively, but when I parted my lips to gasp, he took advantage.

His tongue dipped into my mouth and was an electric jolt straight between my legs. Did I taste like tequila as he did to me, or could he also taste my lust? I had two years’ worth, and this kiss broke the dam holding it back. It poured from me, and as I spun, I latched my hands onto his shoulders to keep myself steady.

What the hell was I doing?

HUNTED by CLAIRE THOMPSON - #BOOKREVIEW

Title:  Hunted
Author:  Claire Thomas
Genre: Dark Erotic
Release Date: May 9, 2016

“Your former life is over. Your apartment will be emptied, your car disposed of, your life erased. You are now the property of Pirate Island, to be used and enjoyed as we see fit. Your life is quite literally in our hands.”

Mara Stevens jumps at the chance for a job at a new premier resort on the North Carolina coast. All she has to do is fly out to the private island and get through one more interview. Unfortunately, what should be a shiny new career opportunity turns into a living nightmare.

Upon landing, she learns the truth. She’s been taken to serve as a plaything to the owners and their chosen guests—high-powered, dangerous men who see her as nothing more than their sexual toy to use and abuse at their whim.

With no escape possible, Mara is forced to submit to the training and discipline of a sadistic taskmaster—or suffer the consequences. Good girls are rewarded; bad girls are punished—severely. Deep into her harrowing journey of forced sexual servitude and submission, Mara becomes prey for The Hunt. Naked and alone, Mara must summon all her courage and cunning, drawing on the indomitable spirit that still secretly burns inside her.

If you like dark and dirty, then pick up Hunted.  This is not for everyone, but for those who are in the mood for dark erotica it's perfect.  Be aware that this not a romance novel.  There is however a happily ever after.  Mara is lured to Pirate Island under false pretenses.  Once she arrives she is immediately told that she is now the property of the island, with no more rights.  She has become a sex slave.

Mara is kept naked, used, abused, and tortured by her new trainers and owners.  For the most part they are disgusting men.  No safewords exist on Pirate Island.  Men can do whatever they want with the women, and they do.  If the women don't comply they are punished.  Mara is abused to the point that she almost has Stockholm syndrome.  One trainer, Alex, who is the most abusive, gets her to really feel like she is worthless.  He tortures her, but he also gets to her.  She develops an almost obsession with pleasing him.

Alex sounds sexy and sadistic.  I definitely wouldn't want to meet him, but I loved reading about him.

The only real issue I had with Hunted is that the end seemed to come quickly.  Mara seems to move on almost too fast.  But since that was the end it definitely didn't detract from the story.

I give Hunted FOUR STARS!

Romance Unbound Publishing, iTunes Excitica and  Smashwords for only $2.99! Hunted is a powerful tribute to the strength of the heroine, who finds romance, an HEA and vindication at the end of her erotic journey.

BIG EASY TEMPTATION by SHAYLA BLACK AND LEXI BLAKE - #BLOGTOUR #BOOKREVIEW

Title: Big Easy Temptation
Series: Perfect Gentlemen Book 3
Authors: Shayla Black and Lexi Blake
Release Date: May 3, 2016
Print ISBN 978-0425275344

The New York Times bestselling authors of the Masters of Ménage series present the third scintillating novel featuring the privileged, wealthy, wild men of Creighton Academy—the Perfect Gentlemen.

Years ago, Naval officer Dax Spencer and NCIS agent Holland Kirk indulged in a steamy affair—until she betrayed him in the wake of his father’s death. Dax tried to put her behind him with a payback of his own. But he never forgot Holland…

Now, as Dax and his fellow Perfect Gentlemen unravel a web of lies, he discovers his family’s tragedy is part of a much larger conspiracy. Soon, all clues point him back to New Orleans…where Holland waits, protecting her deadly secret and holding a torch for the only man she’s ever loved.

Once reunited, they can’t fight the passion flaring hot and wild. But something sinister lurks around every corner, from the elegance of the Garden district to the beauty of the bayou. Dax and Holland may find their way back to each other—if they survive...

“I’m going to kiss you now and I won’t stop unless you tell me to.”
“I won’t say a word,” she breathed.
He lifted his free hand to her hair, sliding out the elastic band holding the low ponytail she typically wore. He gripped the strands. “Soft as silk. Just like you.”
“I’m not soft, Dax.” She didn’t want him to think she was like the other women he’d been with. They likely had been sweet, feminine creatures. Holland couldn’t afford to be.
“Yes, you are. You can be strong and soft and silky all at the same time. That’s who you are and one of the reasons I find you interesting. I want to know every single facet of Holland Kirk. I want to be the man you explore with, experiment with, be true with.”
She had the feeling he wasn’t merely talking about sex. This was why she’d always hesitated. Dax wanted all of her, even the parts of herself she’d shut down and hidden and told herself didn’t matter. He wouldn’t accept anything less than the whole of her soul.
But if he gave her back the whole of his, wasn’t that worth it? If they were both vulnerable, they could learn to trust.
She leaned in and his lips finally met hers. Slow and steady. He took her mouth like a man indulging in decadence, as though knowing they would share the pleasure of sex made him willing to stretch this moment out to something rich and sinful.
Gently, he fisted a hand in her hair, lighting up her scalp with sensation as he took her lips more fully, clasping her body against his own. She softened, giving in to the demand of his mouth, his hands. And when his tongue slid over her lower lip, demanding entry, she couldn’t stop herself from flowering open for him.
Dax pulled her up and onto his lap. She clasped her arms around his neck, bringing him closer. She could feel his erection pressing against her, thick and hard. So big. She couldn’t help but wriggle a little, trying to get closer to him.
His arms tightened on her. “Stop it, sweetheart, or we’re going to have a problem. I want this to last. After waiting this long, I want to savor tonight.”
But she was already on the edge, dying for him to be on top of her, inside of her. “We should go to my bedroom.”
“We should set some ground rules first,” he growled against her neck. “Holland, I’m crazy about you, but you’re going to let me control sex. I’m not foolish enough to think I could control anything else in our relationship but I need you to let me handle this.”
“Why does anyone have to be in control?” She’d always been in the power position with the men in her bed. Ceding it to Dax both excited and scared her.
“Because, as you pointed out, I have more experience. And I’m wired to take control. We’re not going to go at it like two teenagers. Not this first time. Maybe later, when I know exactly how to touch you to get you hot.” Heat melted his dark eyes like chocolate. “But right now I have to figure out how to handle you, how to steer you the right way.”
“I’m not a boat, Captain.”
“Aren’t you?” He brushed a big hand over one of her breasts, cupping her flesh in his broad palm and making her gasp. “Everything that’s worth doing is worth doing right. Making love to you is definitely worth my best effort. See, this little nipple is begging for attention.” He dragged his thumb across the sensitive bud so slowly she bit her lip to hold in a moan. “Take off your shirt and your bra so I can give it the proper attention.”
His voice had dropped an octave and gone velvety. Holland found herself obeying him. Her fingers shook as she reached for the buttons of her shirt, twisting each and releasing it before moving to the next. She didn’t leave the comfort of his lap, but he sat back like a king watching the show, mentally undressing her with those eyes. There was something a bit forbidden about baring herself while his erection pressed so intimately against her.
Holland unfastened the last button and let her shirt fall away before she unhooked the front clasp of her bra. Her breasts were nothing special. She hit the gym three or four times a week to stay in shape. She considered herself more athletic than sexy, but the way Dax’s breath hitched and he affixed his stare to her bare mounds, as if he’d never seen anything sexier, made her rethink all that.
He dragged his heated palm down the valley between her breasts. “Sweetheart . . . I always knew you would be gorgeous without all those clothes. So beautiful.”
Until him, she hadn’t felt that way. Her body had been a tool to use in service of her job, a way to move about each day. When she’d had sex, she preferred to go to the bedroom, get the deed done, and get to sleep. Her few longer-term boyfriends hadn’t seemed to mind, but she got the feeling Dax would take exception to that routine.
With him, it meant far more to her than a rote activity, too.
He kissed her again, their tongues tangling as he explored her breasts, caressing her nipples, plying them with his touch. Fire licked through her system. She could feel herself getting wet and ready.
“Lean back for me. I’ll hold you and keep you safe.” His words rumbled over the sensitive flesh of her neck as he gently leaned her back, resting her over his arm until she arched and thrust her chest up to him like an offering.
“Yes, these little pearls need affection.” He tongued one, laving and sucking it.
She had to bite her lip to hold in a cry. She’d never thought her nipples were particularly sensitive, but that was because they’d never experienced Dax’s clever mouth.
She heard herself whimper as he sucked one bud deeper between his lips. He didn’t satisfy himself with a little lick, a short few seconds of suckling. Not Captain Dax Spencer. He indulged. He reveled. He caressed her with his tongue, tracing her areola before he sucked the tip back into his mouth and gave her the bare edge of his teeth. A tiny bite of pain flared before he soothed the bud with a soft laving. Her body balled into an ache, her sex throbbed as he shifted his attention to her left breast and gave it the same loving treatment.
“I want to kiss and lick and taste every inch of you, Holland. Do you know how long I’ve waited to be here? Years. Fuck, sweetheart, even before I met you, I dreamed about you. I’ve always known you’re the one woman who could make me feel, make me want forever.” He nuzzled her, the stubble of his hard jaw gently abrading her skin. “Stand up and take off your pants. I don’t want anything to stop me from touching you.”

I first discovered the Perfect Gentlemen series a few months ago.  I've read several books by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake, but I've been off and on with social media for the past year so I didn't know about it.  I devoured the first two books and then heard that the third was going to be released and was thrilled to get an opportunity to read it.

Big Easy Temptation is Dax' story (and Holland's story).  For those who haven't read the other two books you could probably get by without reading them, but the books do flow from one to the next and there is a big mystery that the "Perfect Gentleman" are trying to solve.  This mystery is revealed piece by piece in each book so I wouldn't suggest reading this as a standalone.

Dax is a hot, alpha, navy captain.  Holland is a cop with NCIS.  So they're both strong.  The first half of the story takes place three years before present time.  Dax and Holland had known each other for years and they fall in love.  But then Dax thinks that Holland has betrayed him.  The second half of the story is what happens three years later when they are once again together and they begin to discover the truth.

While Dax wasn't my favorite of the Perfect Gentleman, I loved him in this book.  The descriptions of him are hot, hot, hot, and he has a southern drawl too.  He is very strong, but he's caring.  He likes to take charge, but he doesn't overpower.  He's basically a Perfect Gentleman.  I loved Holland from the beginning.  She knows what she wants in life and Dax isn't part of it.  But he wins her over.

I can't wait to read more of this series and give Big Easy Temptation FOUR AND A HALF STARS!
